Requirements

All volunteers for the MLK Memorial Dedication must meet the following requirements:

  1. 18 years of age or older
  2. Legally able to work in the United States of America
  3. Have a working cell phone
  4. Have filled out a complete volunteer application and signed volunteer agreement

Agreement

As volunteers for the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Dedication, I, on behalf of my group/organization understand that compliance with all of the requirements below is mandatory for volunteerism with the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. and for everyone's safety:

  1. I, on behalf of my group, understand that this position is unpaid and that no local accommodations will be provided.
  2. I, on behalf of my group, understand that the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. has my permission to use our names and photographs to promote the organization.
  3. I, on behalf of my group, will inform a Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. Staff or the Volunteer Supervisor of any previous injuries that may affect my group's ability to safely complete volunteer tasks, including lifting, standing for long periods and prolonged exposure to the sun.
  4. I, on behalf of my group, understand that I must carry my own health insurance. I, on behalf of my group, will not hold the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. responsible for any unforeseen injuries or problems that may occur on the job.
  5. I, on behalf of my group, understand we may not initiate or engage in any media/public event pertaining to the dedication ceremony or related events without the approval of the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc.. Requests for media engagements will be referred directly to the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. Staff or Volunteer Supervisor.
  6. I, on behalf of my group, understand that we are expected to report any incident, action or circumstance which we may become aware of that presents a threat, endangerment, or poses a current or future impact on attendees and guests to Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. Staff or Volunteer Supervisor. We understand that it is especially important to inform the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. Staff or Volunteer Supervisor in the case of a medical emergency, in the case of a pertinent medical update or in the case of an attendee's harmful threat to self or others.
  7. I, on behalf of my group, understand that the terms listed above are not all-inclusive and may be updated as needed.
